We are ready for The Happy Walk! As we continue to prepare for this Sunday’s activities, check out my photostream for #29DaysofAwareness!
Before inviting all of our friends and family to join us on this annual walk, we needed to prepare our tshirts! #TeamGellibean is growing, so this was the perfect opportunity to redesign our team tees.
The perfect person for this job was my friend Mye De Leon. She too, has been gifted an extra chromosome through her son Alfonse and even if she lives in Singapore we connect often on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Viber. Communicating through social media makes it easy to keep in touch with friends in far away places.
Within a couple of conversations and one draft later, Mye already knew what I had in mind for Gellibean’s new team logo. I brought the draft of the logo to Nino, and he polished it up with our printer here in BF and now, we are ready to walk with our team.
As Gelli has grown…so has her team. We are lucky to have friends and extended family who support and love her both near and far. She is blessed by all of the people who show her love and kindness every day of her life.
And for this we are grateful.
Do you want to walk with us?
Check out some of our photos from previous walks…
Our First Happy Walk in 2013. Gelli was a peanut that kept kicking off her shoes. You can see in almost all of the photos she’s not wearing the shoes we brought for her. She was definitely a barefoot baby. I always let her walk or crawl or hang out barefooted, because I read somewhere that when she would start to walk it would be easier for her if she was barefoot.
You can even see here in this photo with her buddy Liam, that she prefers being barefoot. Hehehehehe.
So, that first Happy Walk for Gelli was actually a Happy Ride….hehehehe…I didn’t even think to decorate her stroller, or bring a wagon, to make it more fun…I think if she was smaller and still liked to ride, I would definitely bling out a Radio Flyer. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Maintaining our numbers in 2014 with Tita Bebot, Mikko and Jak still joining us for our Sunday Stroll with The Bean. She was riding it out again this time.
Let’s remember that none of this would be possible without the help from SM CARES. They are so supportive of all of the organizations for persons with disabilities. THANKS SM CARES!
#TeamGellibean grew in 2015. With Gelli’s Lolo and Lola joining as well as her Ninong and Ninang. Friends who are like family showed support for our little girl too. Bright and early our friends were there to support The Bean.
I’m excited for this year. We have just one more meeting before the big celebration. There are lots of fun things in store this year as we have a theme that’s more conducive to moving around, socializing with our friends, and playing carnival games.
Even Best Buddies and The Center For Possibilities will be there too!
But I think what makes the whole day all the more special, is the friends we know we have in each other.
The Dela Cruz Family
The Formoso Family
The Yuzon Family
The Harder Family
