I haven’t written about one of my favorite campaigns yet.
Today, I would like to tell you about #ChangingTheFaceOfBeauty.
It all started with a momma. This momma has 5 boys and 1 girl. Her girl has an extra chromosome, just like Gelli.
And this momma had a vision.
She knows how the media shapes our perceptions.
It’s powerful.
So she kicked off this campaign to Change the Face of Beauty…
Her mission: To encourage the integration of individuals with disabilities into general advertising and the media…
Sounds simple doesn’t it?

It is, actually.
Katie Driscoll started this campaign on social media by calling on companies large and small to include individuals of ALL abilities in their advertising and media campaigns.
To date, there are over 100 companies who have included children and adults of all abilities in their advertising campaigns.
Remember this post?
Green Blooded Tees is the first company in the Philippines to be included on this list.
Now, I have called on some Filipino companies through friends and people I know in marketing.
Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the response I received.
I was told through a friend that this one company (which I thought would be perfect for this campaign) “was not ready” to make a statement like this.

That, even though this friend of a friend was head of marketing, that she just wasn’t in a position to make such a decision…
That’s ok…Gelli and I are working on something else. And it’s gonna be fun…and big…and exciting…
Stay tuned…I think you are gonna like this surprise we are working on….you’ll know it when I post about it 🙂
Do you know of any companies who would like to CHANGE THE FACE OF BEAUTY here in the Philippines? If you do, let me know…I know a little girl who LOVES the camera…
Wouldn’t that be a perfect way to round up this month of #29DaysofAwareness?
