I met Monique Salcedo of Salcedo Events, through her beautiful Instagram feed.
I saw her beautiful floral arrangements and took note to follow and comment on some of the photos that documented the different floral arrangements she put together.
As we started communicating on Instagram, she proposed that we collaborate on an event that would work for both of us, because we all know that two heads are better than one.
Because we all know that the holidays can be a stressful time, I needed a little bit of a helping hand this year. I’ve been balancing my responsibilities between work, writing, the house, and Best Buddies, and to be honest, I always feel like I’m failing at something.
In this post, I will highlight 5 ways that Monique and her team helped me hit the easy button.
Salcedo Events helped me hone my ideas.
After meeting with Monique for a quick meal one day, we came up with a few ideas. But it wasn’t until I saw some of her Christmas arrangements that I came up with the idea of how we could collaborate for #TeamGellibean.
Salcedo Events helped me put my ideas into action.
This year, we moved to a bigger house where I could bring out my big tree again. I have always loved the jewel toned decorations for the Christmas season, and I was thinking that this could be the year for a revamp or a refresh for our 12 foot tree.
After meeting with the team, we came up with a few pegs that would keep in line with a jewel toned theme, and the team even came up with some more ideas to add to the tree to make it feel new again.
Salcedo Events sent a team of professionals to execute the plan.
We also decided that we would add a few rustic details so that it would tie in with the rest of our home as we have a lot of earthy and wood all throughout the common areas of our living room space.
Confession: I have actually taken a step back from quite a few of my responsibilities and just have been in keeping with what is absolutely necessary. Lately, I have been wanting to be less busy, and more present. Perhaps it’s also because I am demanding the children to spend less time.
Salcedo Events took the stress out of preparing for holidays for me.
Guys. I don’t know about your family, but our tree decorating goes something like this.
Me: Hey, let’s decorate the tree this weekend!
Them: That sounds great. Let’s do it.
Me: Ok, but I really need your help this time.
Them: Yes! We will help!
I bring out the tree with the helpers, we start stringing the lights. We dust off the ornaments. I put on Christmas music. Everyone puts 2-3 ornaments on the tree and suddenly remembers that they either have to take a nap, do some homework, watch some tv, or they need to lay on the sofa and watch me.
YES. This really happens, people.
Do you feel me?
So, this time, while I watch Jackie, John, and Belle put up the tree, fix all the ornaments and dress up the other areas of the house, I snapped photos of Gelli and Gia painting nails. I snacked. I had a cup of coffee, and I even jumped on the laptop to start writing this post.
Salcedo Events helped me with my yearly Family Portraits.
Every year, around my birthday (so I don’t forget) I try to schedule a family photoshoot. I do this because I like to document our family’s growth.
Back in New York, I would take every opportunity to go and have some photos taken. We would go to places like The Picture People, or other photo studios in the mall to have photos taken of our growing family as keepsakes.
I love looking back at these photos. I think they are a testament to the love and faith that has brought our family through all these years. Some of these photo shoots have extended family members in them. Some of the photos have newlyweds with a brand new baby. One thing is for sure, I love looking at where we came from because it also gives me hope as to where we are heading..
So besides documenting the fun family filled moments, we were also able to come up with our Christmas card for the year.
Cute no?
Check out the behind the scenes video our team was able to put together that documented the process from start to finish. We had a blast!
