Awhile back, I learned a little bit about Aesthetic Science Clinic and some of the many services that they offer their patients.
When it comes to skin care, I certainly don’t have it all figured out, but I know in order to feel good, it has to come from a multifaceted approach to wellness.
Because I want to start feeling better, both inside and out, I have committed to this goal for 2018, by changing a few things in my life.
I will only put whole foods in my body.
Nino and I started doing this last year, and I intend to take it a step further with our entire family’s food intake.
I can make my life even simpler by drinking lots of water.
Eating better will ensure that the whole family can feel better from the inside out.

In early December 2017, my girlfriends and I snuck away for a two nights. We enjoyed the sun, surf, and sand with a quick get away that was just what the doctor ordered.
I can get the proper amount of rest for both my mind and my body. Science has already proven to us that we need the proper amount of rest so that our bodies can heal from the damage that we do during the day. This includes not only getting enough hours of sleep, it also means taking break, listening to my body, and perhaps even taking a “mental health day” every now and then.

I love this outfit. From the bag designed by my friend, the skirt designed by Style Trio, and the vintage top and shoes from my younger days. I put this outfit on for Gia’s 18th birthday and I felt wonderful.
I can dress to impress.
If I look good, I feel good.
Admittedly, when I have a new dress on, and a full face of make up with my hair fixed, I feel good. Sometimes, even if I don’t feel so good, if I force myself to dress well, and put on lipstick, the day is not lost, and I do end up feeling a little better…
BUT, that’s something I want to change this year.
I want to take better care of my skin.
Putting on a full face of make up is lovely, but it’s not always a good thing. I would love to be able to feel beautiful with a minimal amount of make up and still have fresh, dewy skin.
And I do still think that it is possible at 44 years old.
This is why I am super excited to tell you about my new partnership with Dra. Yanee and Aesthetic Science Clinic.
I met Doc years ago when I was teaching Kids Yoga, through my friends Mawi and Lia during a wellness event.
Flash forward to the present, and we are all still doing things in and around this Health and Wellness field. I don’t teach yoga anymore, but I still enjoy anything and everything that encompasses Health and Wellness.
Fun Fact: Doc is also a certified yoga teacher.
So one of the things that I thought would be really fun in caring for my skin better was to learn about how I can level up my skin care routines with my daughter, Gia.

Whether running errands, or getting in the kitchen, the time I spend with Gia is precious to me. She’s not only my daughter, she’s also my friend. How lucky am I?
Gia is at the age already where she can learn how to care for her skin alongside me.
Our first visit to the Aesthetic Science Clinic in Alabang included an exam with Doc, and planning a course of treatment for each of us, individually.
In this blog post, I will highlight three non invasive treatments that Gia and I enjoyed in the Alabang branch of Aesthetic Science.

Chatting with Doc is always enlightening. I love that she’s not only my dermatologist, but she’s also someone I consider a friend.
After our consultation, we decided that I would start with a cleaning and diamond peel facial.
And Gia would start with the Teen Clean Facial.
The diamond peel and facial is most definitely, one of my favorite treatments.
But more importantly, in this case, it’s not just the treatments. I also value the time I have with Gia.
We took the time to go for lunch before we visited the clinic, so it was nice to have that alone time with her to just chat and catch up on my college girl’s life.
Man, even as I type that, I can’t believe I have a college girl!
Here are the three treatments that I will focus on for this post:
1.TEEN CLEAN FACIAL–Good skin starts at a young age. This educational facial not only thoroughly cleans the skin but also helps teenagers (and tweens too) to embark on a lifetime of healthy skin care by providing facts on acne and other skin problems. (taken from www.aestheticscienceclinic.com)
Gia doesn’t have to do much to care for her skin (she is 18 years old after all) but I do want her to understand some basic guidelines to help her age gracefully.
Here are some basic skincare guidelines that Doc Yanee gave Gia to follow:
- Drink lots of water.
- Get enough rest.
- Find a way to relieve stress.
- Sunblock. Sunblock. Sunblock.
- Moisturize.
These simple guidelines are good for everyone to follow, when taking care of our skin. Easy enough, no?
Because this was not my first time to visit with Doc Yanee, I had already experienced my diamond peel with a facial, cleaning and a light peel. The last time I visited with Doc, we had discussed the areas of my face which I felt a little self conscious about.
In other words, we had made other plans for one of the problem areas that I have been unhappy with for some time.
Can you guess what?
I have been noticing more and more the number 11 that is between my eyebrows. I suppose that it could be from all the time I spend frowning?
Yes. I admit it. I was finally ready to do something about it, which leads me to the second treatment that I would like to share for this post.
2.BOTOX INJECTIONS–By utilizing this FDA approved muscle relaxing agent, frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet are significantly reduced. A small amount of the solution is injected very precisely into several locations of the face where you will notice a marked improvement within 3 days. After a week or two you will see a younger and more refreshing appearance. (taken from www.aestheticscienceclinic.com)
I am trying to be more conscious of NOT frowning, so the effects of my Botox treatment last longer. This procedure was painless, (save for a few needle pricks) easy, (Doc did all the work) and has little chance for side effects if done properly and with high quality Botox. (Doc reassured me that she does not cut corners in ANY of her treatments and that her Botox is from the U.S.)
Here are some of the guidelines to follow after receiving a Botox Injection:
- Stay upright for at least 4 hours.
- Avoid massaging or putting pressure on treated area for at least 1 week afterwards.
- No sun exposure for one week after treatment. (Actually, you should always avoid the sun.)
- No make up for 12 hours after the injection.
- Avoid alcohol for at least 3 days after treatment.
I love the results, and if all goes well, this is a treatment that I will only look for again, after another 6-9 months.
The next treatment actually took place during another visit when I was by myself. I have been taking my Friday afternoons for myself, and most of the time, that means that I either visit with Doc Yanee and have a cleaning, or go to another favorite place of mine and have my nails done.
Nobody talks about wart removal.
Seriously. But it’s nothing to be ashamed about, and honestly, until my visit with Doc, I didn’t realize that I even had warts as a problem!
3. WART REMOVAL–
This treatment, admittedly, had a few more steps than the other treatments that I have tried with Aesthetic Science Clinic..
After a cleaning and facial with a light peel, Jenny put anaesthetic on the problem areas where the warts were present. The anaesthetic needed to stay on the affected areas for 20 minutes before Doc could come in and zap them.
Most of the warts that she was cauterizing were quite tiny and concentrated on one area of my neck. But there were a few spots where the warts were a little bit bigger and I felt a slight stinging sensation. It wasn’t terrible painful at all. In fact, I imagined these little buggers forever being zapped and not coming back.
BUT, the truth is warts ARE, IN FACT, contagious.
NO, you don’t get warts from frogs or toads. That is a MYTH, people.
BUT you can get warts from sharing a towel with someone, sleeping on their pillow, or even (gasp) making beso!!!
Healing time for this treatment is about 3 weeks. I was out and about after only a few days because the little scabs actually looked like freckles to me. Ideally, it’s better to keep a clean face and not apply make up for at least three to five days to encourage healing without any complications.
After this treatment, here are some of the guidelines that I followed:
- Don’t wash the treated area for 24 hours.
- Apply the healing cream 2x a day for 2 weeks.
- Avoid intense or direct sun-exposure for 2-3 weeks.
- Discontinue the application of topical creams 5 days post treatment.
- Use sunscreen of SPF15 or higher daily.
- Don’t pick the scabs.
- Wash the area gently.
- Don’t scrub or rub the skin.
One thing that is equally important after you avail of this treatment?
Have your partner do the same.
This way, your efforts won’t be lost when he decides to use your pillow for the night.
Nino and I were actually surprised to see the majority of his warts were also concentrated on one side of his face and neck as well. Isn’t that interesting?
I’m really looking forward to trying out some of the other beauty and slimming treatments in the Alabang branch of Aesthetic Science Clinic. I will be sure to let you know how things go, and which treatments I like best.

If I go by this recent photo where I am totally fresh faced, chatting with my sisters and my niece, I’m already feeling so much better about the quality and health of the biggest organ of my body. MY SKIN!
One thing is for sure, I am looking forward to healthier, tighter, and younger looking skin. I know that if I would like to make more of a conscious effort in being able to go with a fresh face and less make up, with all of the changes I intend to make for 2018, and the help of Doc Yanee, and her skilled technicians, I am well on my way.
