I am sure that you have heard all about this Japanese Decluttering Guru named Marie Kondo. I am also pretty sure that you have heard all about how her way of simplifying your material items and letting go of anything that does not bring you joy can streamline just about everything in your life. Just yesterday, at the Asvel Spark Joy event in The Podium Mall, I was reminded by my friend, Tin, yet again, how much happier and content I will be once I start letting things go.
I will not get into all the sensitive things I know I need to “let go”, like baggage, and heart aches, and hurt words that my sensitive heart, may still carry. That’s a whole different blog post, and perhaps not even something to joke about as I am trying to poke fun at the whole “LETTING GO” concept.

Each time I walk away from one of Tin’s talks, I still learn something new that I wasn’t able to “hear” before.
No. Instead, today I will share some of the very practical tips that CERTIFIED (Spark Joy) KonMari Consultant, Tin Dychaio presented during the ASVEL Philippines event and how we can KonMari our kitchens and homes.

I have taken parts of Tin’s presentation and will share them with you here, but if you would like to learn more about Konmari and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, you should definitely pick up the book.
What is the KonMari Method??
- It is a celebration.
- It is a commitment.
- You need to start with your OWN things.
- Envision your IDEAL life.
- When discarding items that no longer Spark Joy, be sure to say “Thank You.”
- Tidy by category. (Follow the right order.)
Now, keep in mind, once you commit to this life changing way of keeping your things, you will see that it will change your life, your perspective, and you will never revert to clutter again.

One of the other helpful hints that Tin shared when organizing and tidying up your kitchen is to use the space going up. These rice dispensers are useful and compact making them easy to put on the counter.
What are some of the benefits of Decluttering?
- You become more mindful.
- You detach from material possessions.
- Improve concentration and focus
- Increase in productivity
- Less stress
- Discovering your purpose
- Confidence in decision making
- Better health
- Finding happiness
It all makes so much sense, to pair this KonMari method of Decluttering with such a prestigious Japanese brand that is now available here in the Philippines. Asvel has items that can completely organize kitchens by making sure everything is in their right place for its purpose.

Come to think of it. Even in packing my kids’ lunches, I am making sure everything is in its proper place.
And that is actually, one of the first ways to reduce clutter:
Making sure everything is in its proper place.
Now, if I could just get my kids to believe in this basic principle….
