Converge Reliability

There are a few things that frustrate me when it comes to getting my work done during the day.

One of these things is spotty internet service, or a connection that is slow and lags.

As someone whose work is mainly done on the computer (and at home), internet connection is vital. I communicate with Best Buddies International, my Buddy chapters all throughout the NCR, clients for the blog and Mothers Who Brunch, mommas from different parts of the world who have a little with an extra chromosome, and even in keeping up with my family from California, New York, and Florida.

This is why, when my friend Ria, asked me if I wanted to learn more about Converge, I was really looking for a change.

We recently moved homes. It is actually the fact that we moved which gave me the idea to seriously consider the contract I had with my internet provider previously.

Truth is, it’s been a bit difficult to deal with my old provider. If I consider the challenges they have also been under in providing quality service to me as the user, they have been less than stellar. When I started doing a little homework, I also realized that I was paying way more than I needed to pay for the service that Converge was providing at a lower cost.

So here’s the thing:

I need at least 50mbps when it comes to uploading my photos to the website, and since I have started vlogging, I realize I actually need more. It takes too long to upload to all the different platforms!

My friend Ria said that there would be a way for me to experience first hand, just how fast and reliable Converge can be at the Alabang Country Club on one of the Sundays that I was not busy.

I was talking to the kids about it (after researching a little bit about what Converge offers, and how much their services are) and I asked the kids if they would like to join me in checking it out.

All I had to do was mention Fortnite.

Both Miguel and Diego were excited to spend their Sunday afternoon with me, in the hopes that they would get to play their favorite video game at 500mbps at Alabang Country Club.

Yes. You read that correctly.

500mbps!!!

So here in the house, we have always had 50Mbps and of course, I know that that is the BURST speed. It’s not a consistent 50mbps ALL the time. This is life here in Manila. We take the good with the bad. But, this is what I noticed right away once I started doing my homework on CONVERGE: I could pay less than the amount that I was paying with my previous internet service provider for an upgrade to 100mbps!

That meant TWICE the connectivity for the same price. Faster uploads for the website and for YouTube, also means that I can spend more time with the kids, and less time in front of the computer.

Right?

Win.
Win.
Win.

Diego and Miguel jumped right in with Ria’s son Rafa, as they started playing Fortnite. Diego kept saying “There’s no lag mom. It’s so fast.”

Of course, I have no idea how the game was before, but I will take his word for it. I wonder if it’s “so fast,” does that mean he will spend less time on it?

Consider my challenge at home:

I have four kids, who all have their own electronic devices.
I have to work online.
My husband gets online as well.
Everyone has Netflix.
Everyone has messenger is always talking to a ton of other kids online.
So the challenge is for everyone to be online, (if they need to be for work or school) without buffering, lag time, or screens that freeze because of a poor internet connection.

Do you feel me?

There is another aspect of Converge that I found really interesting, though.

I haven’t seen this service offered anywhere else, at this affordable rate and that can be set up with this much ease.

Fiberscope allows the user to set up an HD CCTV camera in their home.

  • The cameras are meant for indoor use only.
  • The cameras can rotate 360 degrees.
  • They can be set to motion detection, or controlled manually from an app you download on your electronic device.
  • The cameras can be accessed from where ever you are.
  • The user can communicate with someone who is in the same room as the camera by speaking into the app. (WHOA.)
  • Converge subscribers can avail of a single camera at an affordable rate of Php199.
  • Converge subscribers can avail of a set of 4 cameras at an even more affordable rate of P740.

I tried controlling this particular camera using the iPad provided, while we were all together at The Alabang Country Club.

I was actually pretty amazed at the capabilities to follow the person in the room and how easy it was to set up the unit. The cameras are plugged into an electrical source, and will run on the wifi that you set up through Converge with the help of their installers.

EASY PEASY.

As a parent of teenagers, I was instantly amused at the possibility of this added security feature, for the common areas of our home. I have always been the type of parent who encourages my kids to bring their friends home (rather than allowing them to go out) and just thinking about the fact that I can check in on them AND OF COURSE Gelli, when she is playing makes me giggle.

So with all these extra options, with all the comparison shopping in terms of affordability, the next thing I needed to do was ask around (my friends who find internet just as important) on social media if anyone else had used Converge and what their thoughts were about the service.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. In a day an age where we all look to our friends and family to share their experiences, out of the eight people who responded right away to my post, only one person had something critical to say. But it wasn’t even critical, because she also shared that she knew they weren’t using the right kind of router, which affected her signal. In fact, her momma who was also a subscriber was getting more than she was paying for in terms of her signal/mbps and connectivity!

All of these factors made it super easy for me to make the switch to Converge once we moved into our new home.

I called my friend Ria, I asked her how to get our service connected and within a few days of filling out all the paperwork, and providing all relevant information, we were connected and I was back to blogging with a connection that is reliable.

In addition to providing true fiber optic internet service for our homes, Converge also gives us the option to take it a step further than the 100Mbps that other companies are offering (at an astronomical rate).

This is an amazing option for someone like me.

I was actually paying a little less than the cost of what Converge Fiber Xtreme would be at 300Mbps with my old provider and my connection was pegged at 50Mbps. Do you see the huge disparity? I am actually shocked that the other providers are not being held accountable for the sub par and extremely expensive service that they are offering! It’s crazy!

In the coming months, there will be additional services and features which will be rolled out and offered to all Converge Fiber Xtreme subscribers, and I am excited to not only avail of them at affordable prices, I am also looking forward to sharing them with all of you!

Wow! I’ve heard good things about Converge and now hearing from you, I really believe! 🙂 It’s just sad that they don’t cater to my area yet (Cavite). I want so much to experience “no lags” and quality service at a fair price. Thanks for sharing and I really look forward to when Converge finally services our area.

This small resort is perfect for divers who move around in a small group. Everything in the beach house is set for hanging out and enjoying your friends and family.

The chef prepares meals that are Thai inspired and the staff is warm and accommodating. Kids loved the Nintendo Switch and board games too. Aircon was super strong in our room and the views were beautiful. I loved that we had the whole beach house to ourselves because it just felt safer.

I really miss the beach. It’s one of my happy places. Where are you favorite places to drive to for a weekend getaway?

Mommas need time alone too. So much of what I do Mommas need time alone too.

So much of what I do is for everyone else around me. For the kids. For Nino. For my extended family and friends.

But I need time for myself too.
This is vital for self awareness, self reflection, and self improvement.

This means quiet time with verse, which admittedly I have not had much time for. It also means making time to find my way back to the mat to practice yoga. It also means time to listen to to music which soothes my soul and often provides ways for me to tune into how I’m feeling. If The Lord makes ways, it also means short trips where I can reconnect with family and girlfriends or opportunities for retreats too.

Funny thing is, it took me to reach middle age to understand how important this for my human-ness.

The most recent trip and time spent with my cousin @tricciaramos was eye opening. She has a retreat coming up in Sedona next month. I’m hoping to attend, but still figuring out how I can make it. I know it will be incredibly restorative and healing.
