For a few Thursdays during the month of June, some friends and I were able to put together some afternoon craft classes. We started out with Hair Bow Making with Angel, of Keishables. Soon after we all completed the second workshop, some of the ladies expressed interest in learning how to arrange flowers.
I immediately thought of Aga. He had taught a couple of classes which I attended some years prior with my ABC group, so I gave him a call to see if he was available to conduct a workshop for momma’s who wanted to learn more about flower arranging. I gave him and idea of what the mommas were interested in and he gave me a budget that fit our parameters.

Supplies included in the workshop were, floral shears, flower frog, shallow dish for ikebana, vase, and a basket.

One of my favorite flowers 🙂 We had hydrangeas in the backyard of our first home in NY. I would clip the flowers early in the season to dry and keep in the house. They would bloom twice in the summer. LOVE.

This is the third time I have attended where Aga is the teacher, and I have yet to see him repeat an arrangement. He is so creative.

Because I hosted the workshop, Aga gifted the demo pieces to me for my home. I LOVE fresh flowers in the house. It just brightens up the whole house to see flowers on the table.

Everyone was snapping pictures of the arrangements so that if we are bold enough to try and create this at home-at least we have an idea of how we should go about it.

During the hands-on part of our lesson, we were all given our own flowers and materials to re-create Aga’s designs with his direction and assistance.

This was the most difficult of the three arrangements to make. I find it hard not to make everything completely symmetrical…I am forced to think outside the box.

The most traditional arrangement was a cute little basket-my desire for symmetry is not a problem with an arrangement like this!
I’m really enjoying our “Crafternoons” together. We are already planning for flower arranging level 2, and I will be learning about bento boxing for the kids’ lunches soon, so I will see if this is something the crafternooners can do together at a later date.
I’m thinking about offering Indian and Japanese Cooking to those who are interested in learning, one of our fellow crafters will teach us how to work with felt for cute keychains and mini stuffed toys. Then we also have that third bow making workshop we are all looking forward to!
Yay for learning more, enriching ourselves, and enjoying the company of other women in the process. Crafting Days are Happy Days!!
If you would like Aga to come teach you and your friends how to make basic flower arrangements you can contact him directly.

They are all so beautiful! I LOVE the hydrangea piece. My goal is to bring fresh flowers into my classroom this year, or at least a plant. 🙂
