FUN TIDBIT: When I was in high school, my track event was the pentathlon.
The pentathlon is a track and field event where I competed in 5 different categories.
High Jump
Triple Jump
100 Meter Hurdles
800 Meter Mid Distance Sprint
Shot Put
I loved this part of my high school career. I was an athlete. I enjoyed competing. The pentathlon forced me to work on all the different events and scoring was based on points for each of the individual events.
Back then, I remember buying my first set of spikes. I remember my first pair of Air Maxes. I remember going to the sporting good store with my dad to pick out the equipment I needed for each of these events so that I could constantly chase my PB. (Personal Best)
Even now, as a mother of kids who all have participated in different sports, I understand the value of purchasing the right equipment/gear to flourish in each activity successfully.
Decathlon is the new French sporting goods store that just opened up in Festival Mall and has deals and steals for the whole family.
Honestly, I was shocked when I visited with Nino the other day after we had lunch in Tenya. He (and the kids) have been telling me to visit Decathlon for WEEKS.
I don’t think I have ever been to a more affordable sporting good store in my life.
I’m used to buying our sporting gear in stores that usually specialize in the product that I am purchasing. For example, all my yoga pants and pilates gear were purchased in a much more specialized store with name brands you are all probably familiar with if you practice yoga.
Just like when I was younger and focused on downhill skiing. The obvious choice from all the sporting good stores was called Ski Barn. (makes sense right?)
Or how about the kids’ desire to seek out the hard to find sneakers, from a specialty store that we visit in Hong Kong, or from the outlet (if we are lucky) in the Woodbury Commons.
But I was shocked to find all the different items available in Decathlon for a song!
Of course, I had to look at the fun stuff for Gellibean. She has been enrolled in Hip Hop (she says Pip Pop) class for more than a month now, and she is enjoying every minute of it.
Nino and I couldn’t resist picking up a few things for her for her twice a week class.
Isn’t she the cutest? I just know she will have fun perfecting her dance moves the next time she attends class…and she will look super cute doing it…
