Every year, right around my birthday, I try and schedule a family photo shoot.
Sometimes, the shoot involves multiple generations.
Other times, it has been just me and the kids.
But for the past few years, (actually, since Gelli was born) I have made an effort to document our family’s growth at least once a year with a photo session.
I like to do this sessions with friends of mine who are photographers, because I know that through our sessions, they will be able to get better photos than I would ever be able to get digitally or on film.
Truth is, I WANT to take better photos, but I think I would need to read the manual of my camera first before I will be able to do so. (That’s half joking. Because I skimmed the manual when Nino bought me my camera last year.)
Ok, so this year, I have been wanting to contact this photographer for some time. I just love how Sheila captures moments that are not staged or even with a lot of props.
She is really great with kids…it’s almost as if she can anticipate where they will go next, or what they will do.
I think that comes from her natural feel for kids because she is a momma herself.
I think this session was a bit of a challenge for her. My pre teen boy and my teenage boy gave her a run for her money. Sometimes, they like to pretend that they don’t like the camera by not smiling.
But truth is, they are always camera ready
I am so glad that we scheduled this shoot with her. Every time I look at these photos they make me smile. They make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. They make me really grateful, and my heart feels full.
In fact, looking at these pictures makes me realize just how wonderfully full my life is.
Full of love.
Full of laughter.
Full of warmth.
Full of passion.
Full of tickles and smiles.
Hugs and Kisses.
I had asked my sister to join us for this family photo shoot. I don’t have much family here in Manila until my parents come back. It’s just the two of us siblings here in Manila.
I’m thankful for her too.
And I’m thankful for the gift of my family for they are the reasons I try to be the best that I can be…
ALL THE TIME…
Thanks Sheila for capturing so many of these moments for us. I will treasure them forever.
Next to check off the list before the year is over? Have some of these printed and framed for the photo wall in the house.
