Everything about how we enjoy our food has changed because of this virus. If you think about it, we go to the grocery store much less, we have all gotten a little more adventurous in the kitchen, and many of us have stopped dining out in restaurants completely, because of the associated risks of venturing out of the house. We enjoy take out food and delivery more than ever, and since so many of us need an occasional break from kitchen monotony, we are also enjoying the kitchen creations of our friends and their small businesses. Takeout and delivery food in the time of COVID19 has definitely evolved to something we can enjoy in the comfort of our own homes.
Admittedly, I have been a bit more adventurous in the kitchen, and Nino and I even started sharing his homemade pate, tomato jam, and cheesecake, while I have considered sharing my cookies and Sunday Gravy, even if it’s just with our neighbors.
Here are some of the delicious dishes we have been enjoying here at home with delivery kits and ready to eat meals from homes and dining establishments here in Metro Manila:
Food in the Time of COVID19
Biji Nabe
Biji Nabe‘s Beauty Hot Pot is available for us to order now, through delivery. This Japanese Collagen Hot Pot is a delicious addition to our family table, and actually had the kids asking for more soup.
Berry’s Deli
Born out of the love of a momma who loves to feed her kids their favorite foods without all the chemicals and preservatives that come in store bought brands. Want to keep the kids busy and give them lunch? Check out her Corn Dog Kit too!
Prologue
This sister to one of our favorite restaurants that used to be in S Maison, has all the good stuff that we love from this restaurant group. From cookies, to freshly baked French and artisanal breads, to brunch bowl favorites, this resto started offering curb side pick up of their menu. PLUS, you can also enjoy their soups, homemade pastas, and specialty steaks, cheeses and food through Dough & Grocer.
Growcery MNL
Chef Kat has taken what we all love from the metro and made it easy to shop and receive your products in one day. With little time to process and fill your orders, you can get everything from food trays to ramen, and frozen seafood. Check them out if you want quick delivery and service too.

8 Spoons Party Trays
I learned about 8 Spoons through my friend Minell. She gifted us with ready to cook dishes that were both easy to prepare and crowd pleasers for the kiddos. You can also order ready to eat trays and have them delivered for your intimate celebrations at home. I was thinking of sending these over to a couple who helped Nino and I process some paperwork. I think it’s wonderful to receive a break from cooking when the food is this good!
House of Lasagna
You guys know, I am not one to really order Italian food because I enjoy preparing the dishes with recipes that have been handed down through the generations on my father’s side of the family. My mother is an amazing cook and admittedly, we ate more Italian food in our household than Filipino, so this is definitely my comfort.
I was so pleasantly surprised with the different variants of lasagna we tried. From the Truffle to the classic beef. ALL delicious, and perfect for a Sunday lunch when served with a salad and some garlic bread. Hello Carbs!
Health Kitchen Manila
Health Kitchen Manila has been preparing meals for those who are quite particular in what they eat. From low carb, to keto and to meals that are delivered to your home with little or no fuss. They have a menu every week you can choose from that is not only delicious but also provides nutritious value for taste.
Because of quarantine and the new circumstances we find ourselves in, they have decided to offer family style meals that are good for 2-3 people. With 3 packs of viands, I was able to feed our family for 2 meals with rice and veggies added. (You guys know I love my veggies)
Nino really loved their adobo and I really loved their garlic bangus.
fill.
When you are not seeing Steph and Lady Badoy putting together beautifully styled spreads for clients in both the event industry or print, you will find this sister foodie pair in the kitchen cooking up something good. Their travels often inspire their offerings and their following is nothing less than cult. From bon cha to chai tea lattes, these ladies put together the whole package. Each of my family members had their fill. favorites, and all of us loved their clever, earth friendly packaging too.

Ramen Santouka
I do not, nor have I ever tried making ramen at home. I know that the earthy bone broth that comes out of good ramen takes HOURS to make, and Ramen Santouka has made it super easy for us. This was a real treat on a rainy day and the kids loved it so much they wanted to make a video to document how easy it was.
If you are going to order, make sure you add Karage to your cart. You will not regret it. In fact, order two packs!
Querica Ph
I had the pleasure of sitting next to Chef Rica during a two day seminar focused on all things from the heart. Rica Bellafleur takes her formal French training back home to her Filipina roots. With dishes like Vegetarian Laing, and Laing Longinisa, This Chef-Mom focuses on her Bacolod roots and aims to share it with the world. Be sure to look for the different varieties of roasted pili nuts. My favorite is, of course, Truffle Pecorino.
What a wonderful list of different ways to indulge in both savory, sweet, and delicious treats!
I hope that you enjoyed this medley of different friends and acquaintances who have pivoted their restaurant offerings to offer DIY kits and deliveries, as well as some of passionate home cooks and chefs who are now operating out of their homes.
Team Gellibean is grateful for all the opportunities to be the first to try out these kits and dishes which have made us all very happy while we #StayAtHome.
P.S. Stay tuned for a second and third list of different ways to enjoy our favorite foods and baked goods at home! Do you have something that you tried and think is worthy of our new Food in the Time of COVID19 series? Leave a comment below so we can order and try!
