Good Food with Real Food

I probably visit four to five different shops, weekly, when buying my groceries for the family. When I’m planning the menu for the week, I am lucky enough now, to have figured out where I need to buy what ingredients I will need for each of my dishes.

Searing some #tuna for my ❤. Hoping he will enjoy my take on a #pokebowl for lunch. Thank you @sinfullysabrina for my @lodgecastiron grill pan. Every time I use it I think of you! ????#healthyeats #healthyfood #healthycooking #healthylife #fit #salad #lodge #lodgecastiron

For bulk items I usually go to the same place so that I can save a few bucks when buying toilet paper for a family of six.

For imported ingredients, I usually visit this one grocery store that has lots of little finds in different places. Sometimes if I’m lucky I’ll find something that will bring back childhood memories.

Most of the time, for my fruit, I go to my same suki week after week, even if it’s a little further away.

This Morning’s #SmoothieBowl for my ❤ had a little something extra. Adding #purple #yams to the mix makes it creamier AND gives him even more energy to tackle the day ahead. Included in this bowl of goodness are mangoes, strawberries, beets, almond butter, and organic purple yams with maca and malungay powder. I topped it with cacao nibs, coconut chips, chia, flax seed, apples, grapes, and more strawberries. Will definitely make this combination again!

And for any organic feels or super healthy ingredient that goes into my husband’s smoothie bowls or breakfast shakes, I visit Real Food in Molito.

Real Food is the brain child of four friends who believe that we should “eat good to feel good.” Yes, we are what we eat, people!!

Real Food, Real Ladies From L-R: Bea L’huillier, Nicole Fandiño, Honey Almendral, and Kat Manñosa

Sourcing more than 90% of everything they sell from local farms, cooperatives, and social enterprises, one can pick up everything from organic fruits and veggies, to free range chicken, and prepared food and snacks all made without preservatives, coloring, or refined sugar.

Bottled dips and spreads can all be found in the Real Food Grocery Store in the refrigerated section.

I have been visiting Real Food for the past year that they have been open, and I enjoy the different daily offerings of fresh vegetables and fruits (that are, in fact, delivered daily) -and the powdered superfood supplements that I add to Nino’s morning smoothie bowls.

I always find new items to play with and still have yet to experiment with the gooseberries I picked up during their anniversary celebration held earlier this week.

Having this grocery store, with all these options is actually a gift to those of us that live in the south. I have gone smoothie bowl shopping with some of my friends, and truly enjoy the courteous and helpful staff who are always willing to explain when I have questions or help with ideas when I’m unfamiliar with a new fruit or vegetable.

“Keep your friends close and your farmers closer,” is the whole idea that started this “Farm to Table” kind of grocery where you can find HEALTHY, farm fresh food.

Visiting the store is inspiring for me. I have tasted mini juicy cucumbers which reminded me of edamame. I have worked in organic purple yam into Nino’s smoothie bowls. And I have been able to taste my first ever gooseberry.

I honestly, don’t think I could find these healthy ingredients in any other store but Real Food.

Three of the ladies behind the store with their ever helpful staff during the anniversary celebration, which took place earlier this week.

Other items you can expect to find when you visit:
  • organic maple syrup
  • organic spices
  • freeze dried fruits
  • dried fruits, granola, and kale chips
  • vegan & gluten free food options
  • whole grain long fermented freshly baked bread
  • organic wine
  • fresh teas
  • read to drink kombucha
Fresh produce from Surigao, Pangasinan, and Batangas, honeycomb from Bukidnon, and grass fed Pork and beef, the home chef mom who wants to give her family the best can start, with the best ingredients from all over the Philippines, in a responsible way, takes the “love local” way of living straight from these farms to their own dining tables.

I love working the fresh turmeric into smoothies and shakes, and the gooseberries are yummy when you pop them in your mouth straight from the fridge!

Want to eat healthier and you’re not from the south or near Molito in Alabang? You’re in luck. Real Food has a selection of their products at UpMarket in Makati Place, and will soon be available online at www.metromarket.com and on their own website www.realfoodph.com.

Do you make time to date your spouse? Admittedly Do you make time to date your spouse?

Admittedly, @manila.gent and I have been working so hard and addressing the responsibilities of our daily lives that we really have not been able to plan something fun, outside of trying new restaurants.

Here is one that we enjoyed awhile back when we visited @unfrenchbistro by @chefmichelleadrillana.

-Apple Walnut Salad with Crunchy Bleu Cheese Balls
-Laing Lobster Thermidor
-Triple Treat of Sisig, Pork Belly and Bacon topped with Foie Gras
-Poached Salmon in a Dill Cream Sauce w/tasty shrimp balls and topped with salmon roe
I thought about these delicious Buko Tarts I made I thought about these delicious Buko Tarts I made with @prismpuff pastry a few days ago. It’s so funny to think how @kitchen143 has evolved and come to life with different foodies, kitchen loves, and experts in the field. I have been having so much fun experimenting, getting to know foodie friends, and new found kitchen sisters (and brothers) through the process.

I’m curious tho-is there anything you guys want to learn? See? Explore? I also want to go exploring with all of you!

Perhaps you know a really great restaurant that we haven’t featured yet? Or a home cook that loves to share the kitchen love?

Tag them please!
Share them with me!
How about a foodie meet up?
What do you guys think?

All your child needs, is for one person to believe All your child needs, is for one person to believe that SHE CAN.

Teacher MJ of @citydanseacademy believed that @gelliaventajado would be ready for a December recital.

And she was.

Heart Full.
Mission Accomplished.

She can.
She did.
She loved it.
She is so proud of herself.
I started taking my coffee black, years ago when I I started taking my coffee black, years ago when I ran outta milk and had no choice. I quickly realized that I would much rather trade my calories in milk and sugar for the calories in my dessert.

My nana used to take her coffee black. And sometimes she would have tea in the afternoon and dip her saltines in it while watching her “programs.” These programs were shows like The Young and The Restless, Falcon Crest, and Dallas. I would sit at her feet, or on the sofa next to her. And just being near her provided comfort.
#GratitudePost Thankful for my sisters. My sister #GratitudePost

Thankful for my sisters. My sisters have always supported me. The last seven years especially. Grateful for their generosity, their guidance, their prayers and their love for my children.

Are you thankful for your sister? She doesn’t have to be one that your parents gave you. She can be your chosen sister too! Tag her and let her know.

Last month I spent a few days in Madrid with @best Last month I spent a few days in Madrid with @bestbuddies staff from all over the world. We had the chance to spend some meaningful time with our founder, @anthonykshriver, learn from the other countries who were present, and celebrate the relaunch of Best Buddies Spain with their Gala.

I came home inspired. Ready to jump into our employment program, and expand our friendship and leadership programs to create greater impact.

We are furthering inclusion in 47 countries all over the world. Curious about how you can bring our inclusive programs to your school or company?

Send me a DM or a PM so we can start the discussion!

Are you feeling the holiday spirit already? Righ Are you feeling the holiday spirit already?

Right now, I’m thinking of my Thanksgiving menu and all of the many things I am grateful for…

Especially weekend getaways with @manila.gent.
Tis the season to be merry! Just last week, @mani Tis the season to be merry!

Just last week, @manila.gent and I visited @westinmanilahotel for their very FIRST Tree Lighting to kick off the holiday season. 🎄

We enjoyed holiday themed drinks, festive music, and the sustainably decorated tree while celebrating “Green & Bright,” in the hotel lobby.

As always the eats and treats are for the whole family to enjoy. Bring the kids, the grandparents, and even the fur babies to celebrate this Holiday Season because everyone is welcome!

Here are the special offerings you can look for when you visit:

• Visit The Lobby Lounge for the 12 Christmas Cocktails or the Westin Holiday High Tea.

• Celebrate Thanksgiving Dinner with the buffet at Seasonal Tastes. Be prepared to be wowed with Turkey and the fixings.

• Check in and enjoy Christmas and New Years staycations complete with the Westin Pillars of wellbeing. The Holiday Getaway room package includes breakfast for two persons, an Afternoon High Tea, a festive giveaway, and a P1,000 food and beverage credit. (This is valid for stays until January 7, 2024.)

• Take advantage of Seasonal Tastes’ holiday menu for both Christmas and NYE that includes Seafood Paella, Beef Prime Rib Roast, Italian Style Roast Pork “Porchetta”, Slow Cooked Leg of Lamb, Slow Roasted Whole Turkey, Grilled Bratwurst and Veal sausages, and more.

Looking forward to celebrating with the family this holiday season. We all have so much to be grateful for. 🙏🏻
Self Care Sunday! Quick trip to @alpinalounge mea Self Care Sunday!

Quick trip to @alpinalounge means we are ready for the week! Visiting the lounge for my gel manicure and monthly massage is not just a treat, it’s part of what I look forward to when spending time with @gi.aventajado.

I love that my manicure lasts more than a month, and that the care I receive from the technicians is with my preferences taken into consideration.

Waiting patiently as my lashes grow out and heal from the years of wearing falsies, so I can enjoy the lash extensions that I have missed!
I ❤️ NY. I ❤️ NY.
