Health & Beauty

Kerry Sports Manila

I have been pretty lucky lately.

I know I have been working hard.

But I have also had time to enjoy myself, and take the time I need to get back to my center, and get back to taking better care of my mind, body, and soul.

Between my recent healthy retreat to #GoWell, and my recent respite from work for my birthday weekend, I have had the opportunity to recharge and remember what all this busyness is about.

Last week, I was invited by the folks over at The Spa in Kerry Sports Manila to try out some of their services. I was looking forward to the down time to clear my head and explore more of Shangrila’s newest location at The Fort.

I asked Nino if he could take me to this appointment, and he said we could make a date of it. Just by the mere thought of him accompanying me for this treat, I was already excited because it was a win win situation. Nino said he would schedule some meetings downstairs in the lobby while I was receiving my services, but not until after we would have brunch together.

Y’all know how I love brunch with my Babe, right?

I’ve eaten a couple of different times at Shangrila Fort, but have yet to share here on the blog just how great the food is in a blog post. We all equate Shangrila properties with the highest standards and the best in quality when it comes to service and food, and the property in Fort certainly does not fall short of these superior standards. I’m lucky to have been able to visit all three of the properties here in the Philippines, and actually, I’m already trying to plan a trip back to the property in Boracay with the family.

After our brunch, Nino said he meeting would be starting soon, so I told him I would go up and take some photos upstairs before heading to The Spa which opened at eleven.

img_3486-copy

One thing I learned after I was posting some of the photos I was taking with my phone is that my girl Nikki will be teaching her NTSweat class there real soon! This fact might actually make me consider becoming a member at Kerry Sports Club in and of itself! Remember that class that I was telling you about when I went to Boracay with Sun Life? This is it, people! That’s the class y’all need to look into taking!

I’m serious.

img_3493-copy

The club is light, airy, and has awesome floor to ceiling windows that actually makes you feel like you are outside. All of the latest in gym equipment for those that like the fancy machines are glistening and just waiting to be used.

img_3497-copy

But for those that like to get down and dirty with plates and bars? They have that too.

img_3495-copy

There is even a little cafe where you can snack on healthy items, order juices, or sit and have a coffee.
img_3489-copy

By this time, the spa had opened its doors and I was ready to explore some more.

img_3488-copy

As I was looking at the menu of services, I thought it might be nice if I added to my treatment. After deciding to add the Lift & Firm Eye Treatment to my Kerry Radiance package, I was ready to find my way to one of the treatment rooms.

img_3519-copy

The ESPA products that they use in the spa are imported from the U.K. I have to be really careful when I receive treatments like this, because I have such sensitive skin. Luckily, none of the products from my services affected me or my sensitive skin.

img_3525-copy

The Kerry Radiance package includes four luxurious treatments. It starts with the Pink Hair and scalp mask which is a wonderful leave in conditioner that left both my scalp and my hair deeply moisturized. After Sophia applied the mask, she began to work on polishing and softening my skin with the ESPA exfoliating FULL body scrub.

img_3535-copy

Once I rinsed off the scrub and the leave in conditioner, the relaxing part of the Kerry Radiance package began with a massage using a rejuvenating massage oil with lemongrass essence and rose geranium oils. I sensed citrus undertones and while citrus is usually a scent that would wake me up, the combination of these three essential oils left me feeling calm and relaxed.

img_3534-copy

Whenever I get a massage, I have been told that even though I think I’m asking for medium pressure (and I don’t like shiatsu pressure points) the pressure which I enjoy is actually very light. Sophia kept checking in on me and asking me if the pressure she was applying was comfortable and soothing.

It was.

So much so, that I fell asleep and of course she had to wake me up so I could turn over.

I also liked that Sophia asked if I wanted my head to be massaged or not. Whenever I have indulged in massages before, I know that I can’t go anywhere afterwards because of the oil that would sit in my hair. When she massaged my head, she used a towel to cover my hair so that it wouldn’t be oily.

That was thoughtful and considerate.

img_3533-copy

After the hot stone massage, Sophia prepped me for the delicious facial that would finish my treatment of two hours. I haven’t received a facial in quite some time, so I was looking forward to the relaxation massage on what I feel is probably the most neglected part of my body. I mean, I moisturize and put on my make up, but as far as pampering goes…my face doesn’t get much attention, at least not like this…

img_3572-copy

All of the scrubs, cleansers, and creams that were used on the most delicate parts of my skin were SO luxurious. I remember, even saying to Nino when we were on the way home, that I think it’s physically and mentally impossible to be mad during a facial. If I have things on mind that are causing me grief or concern, the actual act of someone massaging all the points of my face which would show anger and disappointment won’t allow me to frown!

I had to laugh because my facial muscles were so relaxed!

img_3576-copy

Plus the fact that I added the extra eye treatment made me even more confident when I walked out of the treatment room, because I know the first signs of ageing for a woman come in three places. The eyes. The neck. and The hands. Well, one out of three ain’t bad, right?

What did I love most about this two hour treatment?

  • I was offered the use of the sauna and steam room before the services. This is a great way to prepare for the treatments that I would receive.
  • The room was relaxing. Lit perfectly for a calming atmosphere.
  • The lotions, creams, and oils were delicious and soothing to my skin.
  • The therapist was attentive. She checked in with my on pressure frequently.
  • I was not rushed out of the treatment room for another client. I had ample time to settle in and come back to center before getting dressed to carry on through the rest of my day.
  • The Spa and Gym staff were all well versed and knowledgable in answering my questions.
  • The facilities (even in the gym) were state of the art. I would love to be a member!
  • The location of Shangrila Fort makes it easy for me to visit from Alabang. I can see myself asking a friend for lunch and then a spa date afterwards to catch a break from my busy schedule.
  • And more importantly than all of these? The value for the services is incredible. I don’t think there is another spa out there where I would receive a full body scrub, a hot stone massage, and a luxurious facial for just a little over five thousand pesos.

I mentioned this to the receptionist, and she said that they have really been conscientious in their value for services. Yes. They have.

I’m already looking forward to going back.

Anyone want to come with?

@mommymundo always has a way of bringing together @mommymundo always has a way of bringing together just what we need, no matter the time of year. Loving these photos of my first boy that were snapped @expomom.

Anyone else thinking about #HolidayPhotos? I am not one of those moms that has it all together before Christmas. It’s usually a mad dash for us at the end of the year, but if it’s anything that the past few years has taught me, it’s that the little things are what makes the Christmas special.

Many of us haven’t been together with the extended family or even our immediate family in so long. That means it’s the perfect time to document.

@nextbymetrophoto will be hosting one last Christmas Marathon family photo shoot before the end of year. Check them out or shoot them a message. They have some cute set-ups.
