For those of you who are just visiting for the first time, I have to preempt this post with a little story.
It’s the story of US.
Me and him.
He and I.
It’s our story. It started quite a few years ago and we have come a long way. We have hit some bumps in the road, but no matter the bumps we know we can always visit where we began.
We love Makati Shang. Our kids know the story of our beginning. The things we said and did, and how Nino followed me to New York after that fateful week we spent together. They ask us to tell the stories about that time, they want to sit on the sofa where we sat and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning getting to know one another as young people often do.
I remember the time clearly. It was the time of Alanis Morissette. I was full of angst and was all about intellectual intercourse. I wanted the world to know I wasn’t just another pretty face, but that I had the substance to follow through with a meaningful career as a teacher in the inner city. I had never met anyone like Nino. He was quite serious. We connected on a level that was deeper than most of the boys that I met at that time. He challenged my thought process…and I want to say, that maybe I challenged his as well. I called him out on some of his general statements and the ideals that I shared were those of a bright eyed bushy tailed newly graduated educator ready to move into the inner city and change the world one student at a time.
He wanted to make a difference in the world too. And that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to get to know him even more.
That was many years ago.
Time and circumstance allowed me to live in NY as his wife and a momma to our children for eight years. Together we moved the kids to Manila, because Nino had plans, and he wanted to be near his family.
Ten years in Manila has allowed us the time to visit Makati Shangrila, where our story began, any time we want.
And we wanted to visit Makati Shangrila a couple of weeks ago to try out their NEW Lobster and Seafood Shack with Diego.
We try to take each of our kids out for some one on one time. Truth be told the dates are not as frequent as I would like, but I think that with each of our kids, even the quiet time we spend with each other at home can be quality time as well. Crafting, cooking, watching movies, and even a quick pick up game of basketball can get the family bonding and creating memories that they will look back on fondly when they are much older.
One thing is for sure, Diego really enjoyed himself. Every time he would come back to the table where we were sitting in Circles, he would show me his new selection of savories and treats. He didn’t go as crazy with the chocolate fountain as I thought he would, and he said it was because he was SO full from the STEAK AND LOBSTER.

YES!!!
My boy likes surf and turf.
When you want a buffet that encompasses a multitude of cuisines and is family friendly, Circles is the place to go.
EVEN MORE SO, when it’s Lobster and Seafood Shack on a Saturday night….
Check out the photos from this #SeafoodFeast!

Enjoyed your story and seeing all the luscious seafood platters at Makati Shang. Makes me want to go home soon. Look at Diego, how cute he is!
