I love products that make my life easier. These products, whether they are used in the kitchen, the bathroom, or when we are out with the kids are so valuable to a mom of four like me. I have spoken about things that make my life easier in lots of different ways either here on the blog or on my IG feed. It is essential for Mommas like me to WORK SMARTER, and not harder. Anything that helps in this area is greatly valued because it’s easy for a momma to get overwhelmed with everything that has to happen in a day when managing the home and the children.
Recently, I was contacted by the brand reps over at Okiedog to write a product review for one of their diaper bags. As timing would have it, I was just noticing how difficult it was for us to move around with the bulky shoulder strapped diaper bag full of Gelli’s stuff because her new favorite thing to do is RUN! This being said, I also realized I had to go through the diaper bag and weed out the unnecessary. We need quite a few things when we take the toddler out…BUT we don’t need the kitchen sink.

Part of why this bag is so easy to access while we are out with the stroller is the patented CLIPIX HOOKS, CONNECTORS, AND ADAPTERS.
After speaking with Maureen from Okiedog and looking through the photos of types of different nappy bags, I mentioned to Gelli’s yaya, Joann, that we should look into a back pack type bag so that when we are out she has two hands free. This way she doesn’t have to worry about a shoulder strap that always needs to be fixed. It’s not easy to run after a toddler who has recently found her running legs…and even more so if you are hindered by all the stuff you KNOW you need to have with you while taking care of her…
When I saw the Okiedog Mondrian Trek, I knew it would be a great bag to switch over to.

Thank you Blaise, Maureen and Adrian for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me and tell me more about Okiedog.
However, if I AM going to spend on a diaper bag I want it to be value for money…with all the bells and whistles that make utilizing a diaper bag with ease. This type of bag takes into account all the things that Mommas need and has the details which set it apart from other bags in the same Nappy Bag category.

If we are just going down the street to the park, all I need to bring along is the little pouches. No need to bring along the big bag because the insulated zipper pouch for drinks (on the left) and the zipper pouch for a diaper and wipes (on the right) is all we need.
One of the other things to consider when using a diaper bag is this. Compartments. I need lots of compartments to keep me organized. As many of you also know I like things organized and neat. There should be a place for everything. With the removable zipper pouches I have a place for the most used items and this is super convenient. BUT I also need places for all the other things that I bring along when taking the toddler out.
- I need a place for the hair ties and hair brush.
- I need a place for tissues.
- I need a place for socks.
- I need a place to put an extra outfit.
- I need a place for the changing pad separate from everything else because it is put in some dirty places.
- I need a place for Gelli’s woobie. (I think they call it a lampin here.)
- I need a space for Gelli’s favorite books.
- I need a space for one toy.
Now…take a look inside this nappy bag and see if there are enough compartments for what I need to bring out with me…

With three elastic compartments, and one main compartment I can contain Gelli’s outfits and necessities neatly.
Now-if this is a quick run out and I know I’ll be back in a jiffy?
- I also need a place for my wallet.
- I need a place for my keys.

This front pocket is good to reserve for all of your needs if you choose not to bring a purse. I would use this as a quick “go-to” compartment and the latch is perfect for my key ring.

There is even another insulated compartment on the other side, in case you forgot the separate insulated zipper bag.
When I bring Gelli out, I have learned (after four kids) that having more is better in terms of being prepared. While I do NOT like bringing everything but the kitchen sink, I do find it necessary to pack a few extra things so that we are not rushing home because of an accident or a spill (which we know is common with toddlers, right?). The Okiedog Mondrian Trek Bag allows me (or yaya) to be hands free when bringing this bag along not only because it’s a back pack, but because once we are out with the stroller the CLIPIX adaptors make it easy to secure the diaper bag on the back of the stroller. You can leave the CLIPIX adaptors there all the time and you do not need to remove them in order to close the stroller.

Even when we are out, it’s easy to see that having a backpack nappy bag as opposed to a shoulder bag is so much easier to use.
SIDE NOTE: I have bought other aftermarket stroller adaptors for many different things. While they were all convenient in some way, CLIPIX outshines these aftermarket accessories because it fits the bag perfectly. CLIPIX and OKIEDOG Nappy Bags go hand in hand and that’s what makes them easy to use.
What I learned:
Okiedog is a German based company that strives to provide the very best for momma and for baby. Their designs are vibrant and fun, easy to clean, AND PVC, AZO, and BPA free. It seems as though they have thought of everything for the Mom on the go. In some of the designs there is space for Momma to keep her own things thereby eliminating the need to bring another bag to carry while caring for your kiddos outside of the house.
Okiedog has two lines that are both fun and whimsical yet functional. Both the Nappy Bag Line and the Kids’ Line have cute designs that are colorful, practical, and well worth the price tag.
Even their KIDS’ line has thought behind the designs. I asked Gelli to try on some of the bags that were available in Rustan’s here in ATC. This was the first time that she kept the back pack on because it was so light. I even felt that because of the shaped (yet soft) side of the backpack that it kind of gave way to Gelli’s shoulders and back.
Different lines are available in different stores, so it is probably best to call ahead to find out if the bag you are looking for is available. Look for Okiedog in Landmark, Toys ‘R Us (GB5, Galleria, Rockwell), Fishermall, Well Worth, and Animal Land. Kids backpacks and suitcases range from P999-P1999, while the multi faceted Nappy Bags range from P1799-3999.
