Just last month, Nino and I stole away from the kids for a date night in Megamall for the Season Two Premier of Santa Clarita Diet with Netflix Philippines.
But this wasn’t just ANY regular run of the mill date night…
This was the kind of date night that we actually got to see one of the cutest onscreen couples, from one of our favorite Netflix Original Series up close and in person.
Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore play the onscreen couple of Joel and Sheila Hammond from Santa Clarita, California. Throughout season one, we saw their commitment and desire to make things work as a family, exemplified onscreen, no matter what UNDEAD life challenges were thrown their way.
Even through facing the problem of Sheila’s undeadness, Joel does everything he can to be the ever supportive husband, rolling with the punches, and adjusting to Sheila’s new diet restrictions, and insatiable sexual desires.
I must admit, I wasn’t hooked on the show from the first episode. I just had to keep watching because I love Drew Barrymore so much. And I’m so glad that I did. This isn’t a show that we watch with Gelli, but we do watch this show with the big kids and not only does it provide lots of laughable moments, there are even some opportunities to talk to the kids about what it’s like to work together as a family, despite our differences.
But truth is, I loved the opportunity I had to hang out with my best guy. One of the things I love most about blogging and sharing what I have learned along the way, is the opportunity to spend time with the kids for different events, and of course the opportunity to spend time separate from the kids as well.
This means I enjoy the time with Nino. And I even enjoy the opportunity to attend events by myself, in the company of other mommas.
On this particular night, we got to watch the premier of one of our favorite shows, connect with new found friends, and enjoy a meal where it was just the two of us.
And since neither of us are undead, we could choose a restaurant that we both love, like Tim Ho Wan.
WIN WIN for everyone!
And you know what else is a win?
Binge watching my favorite show with a #TVDinner on the coffee table.
Currently, we are watching movies with a character who has special needs. I plan to write a post about our 5 favorites. So far, we watched Forrest Gump with the kids and they were amazed with what a great story line it was. Of course, I love anything Tom Hanks, and we all loved that Robin Wright finally got her act together and ended up choosing a man that would love and honor her in a way that she deserved.
I think I need to share this recipe soon. It was yummy.
If you are not on Netflix yet, you need to look into that. There are a ton of promotions now, some even come with your internet provider if you decide to switch over to Globe.
