I have a long standing love affair with Shangri La Makati.
I enjoy Sunday brunch at Shang Palace. I enjoy tea in the lobby lounge. I love the close proximity to everything in Makati. Whenever Nino and I have time to kill in Makati you can find us in one of two places. Of course, Makati Shang is one of them.
I have written about the Jewelry Boxes when I visited with my friend Jackie and her lovely daughter in the Lobby Lounge before. Patty and Aencille from Shangri La explained the idea behind the afternoon tea treats, and we enjoyed ourselves, by indulging in both savory and sweet treats all afternoon, while catching up with girl time chikka.
Earlier this week, I was invited back to the Lobby Lounge, where it all began for me and Nino, to learn more about how my favored afternoon Jewelry boxes got an upgrade to exemplify #LobbyLoungeLuxe.
For the month of March, Makati Shangri La Lobby Lounge has partnered with Rajo Laurel and Jewelmer to bring a new level of luxury to the already enjoyable afternoon tea box.

Chocolate and Pralines are not sacrificed in the newest rendition of the Tea & Treasures afternoon tea box. Can you spot the South Sea Pearl Ring by the Executive Pastry Chef?
The addition of the WHITE Jewelry box, which features pastries, tea sandwiches, canapes and pralines still comes with your choice of many teas to be served while being serenaded by The Manila String Machine.
This alternate form of music accompaniment is not only refreshing, but fun. The new take on trending pop music played by eight instrumentalists is lighter, less serious, and can even get some of the lobby lounge guests shimmying in their seats.

I took note of this couple and snapped a creepy stalker photo. I just thought they were the cutest. Occasionally, you would see the two of them chair dancing and getting excited when a song would come on that they really liked. It was sweet and endearing. I imagine when Nino and I get on in our years, and the kids all have their own families that we could be this couple, having afternoon tea where it began so many years ago…
I was pleasantly surprised to run into an acquaintance while we were enjoying our afternoon tea. Jean Moberg is the beautiful momma of a young lady I had the pleasure of working with a few years ago for a commercial. Her daughter Alida, played my pretend daughter in a two day shoot for a milk product. It was a wonderful experience peppered with quite a few “firsts” for me, and I remember Jean and her family vividly because they were friendly, fun, and her husband was American.
Through our quick catch up conversation, I learned that Jean and her husband’s business is in boxes and packaging. In fact, her company is the company that came up with the design of the Shangri-La Jewelry Tea Boxes! How awesome is that?

Each #LobbyLoungeLuxe Jewelry box is served with the executive pastry chef’s take on the jewels of the sea.
Even more exciting is the fact that with each order of your #LobbyLoungeLuxe Jewelry Box with sweet treats and savory sammies comes a chance to win two pieces of art. At the end of the month, Shangri La Makati will draw one winner who will receive the honor of taking home one piece from Rajo Laurel and one bauble from Jewelmer. If that’s not a reason to take the afternoon off for high tea, I’m not sure what is.
