It’s been a year since Starbucks® launched Teavana®, here in the Philippines.
As they follow their successful Asian launch of Starbucks® Teavana®, they have opened their doors to welcome the media, once again, as they unveil their new Teavana® Frozen Teas.
These refreshing teas were launched exclusively in Asia, this past September second, in their flagship store located on Macapagal Ave., in Parañaque, City.
Starbucks® has taken the lead in innovating flavors and textures to the next level with a unique Frozen Tea platform.
“These frozen teas satisfy the growing sophistication of our consumer preference.” said Keith Cole, head of marketing, for Starbucks Philippines.
Perhaps you are wondering “Why Frozen?”
It’s not just because they have frappuccinos…
Starbucks is focusing on the frozen platform because of their independent research. Their research has shown that the majority of customers in Asia, like beverages that have texture and visual appeal. The only way one can achieve texture in a beverage, is if it is blended or frozen.
Teavana® Frozen Teas carry a more botanical flavor; usually, something that is herbal or spicy. These are local flavors that are very familiar to people in Asia. They put tea in a platform that is modern yet, at the same time, pay homage to cultural flavors that are traditional. Truly, a blend of modern and old.
At this launch, Starbucks® provided interactive activities which inspired creativity. There were pouches given to all media personalities present, to draw, create, and color their own design, with 5 prizes being awarded to the most visually appealing creations.
Participants were also given a chance to prepare their own frozen drink. *Barista feels*
The first tea presented was Starbucks® Teavana® Frozen Chamomile Tea with Kyoho Grape and Aloe
Soothing chamomile tea is blended with honeyed white grapes and aloe cubes delivering a cool, lightly sweet taste.
Camomile is known for its citrusy flavor, and this frozen drink is balanced with floral notes of lavender.
The beverage is generously topped with skinned and pitted whole Kyoho grapes – a popular variety from Japan known for its distinctive sweetness and generous size.
When you drink the camomile tea which is citrusy, the sweetness of the grape as well as the aloe really brings out the refreshing taste of this beverage.
The second tea presented was Starbucks® Teavana® Frozen Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls
This refreshing beverage combines floral notes of hibiscus flowers and rose petals with the tropical flavors of papaya and mango, enhanced with hints of cinnamon and lemongrass. The beverage is topped with glistening, jewel-like pearls of pomegranate juice that burst on the tongue.
This is similar to the Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls which was launched last year. The only difference is this version is blended with ice and the signature pomegranate pearls come as a topping, instead of being mixed in.
