It’s summer. And it’s hot.
Growing up, I remember my Nana storing her leftover coffee in the ref when the days grew longer, and the temperatures were just too much to bear. She would even make coffee ice cubes so that her afternoon drink would not be watered down with ice from the freezer. She would take her iced coffee and I would sit with her while she watched her “programs” to try and stay safe from the sweltering heat of the summer sun.
I love my coffee. I now take it black, no cream, no sugar, just the way my Nana used to drink her coffee. I have learned that at the ripe old age of 43, it’s easier to steer clear of the calories in my coffee if I stick to this basic antioxidant drink and enjoy it in its simplest form.
But sometimes, I want a treat. A COLD treat. A SWEET treat. And that’s where my friends over at Starbucks help me out.
Starbucks Philippines knows it’s summer…and they know how to welcome summer with a new drink for us to indulge in, and beat the heat.
The new Pop’zel Coffee Frappuccino® is a combination of popcorn and pretzel topped with real caramel popcorn and salted pretzel over whipped cream.
They even brought back the Roasted Marshmallow S’mores Frappuccino® which is layered with smooth marshmallow whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and graham crumble.
Both drinks are available for a limited time only starting on April 18.
Starbucks even has fun new items for us to enjoy at home this summer, too.
Starbucks Via® Iced Coffee dissolves in cold water in an instant, and Kati Kati Blend, Starbucks Reserve ® Nicaragua La Roca, and Starbucks Reserve® Costa Rica West Valley Yellow Honey allows us to brew and blend at home as well.
But if coffee isn’t your thing, you know that they have soothing drinks from Teavana™ that will suit your every mood and brewing habits.
When I personally need a refreshing drink, I enjoy the Hibiscus Herbal Blend in the shops. It is caffeine-free and has tropical notes of juicy papaya and mango combined with citrus lemongrass. It’s even better iced with pomegranate balls. Super Yum. Super Cool. Super Fresh.
If you need to unwind, there’s Emperor’s Cloud and Mist™. This is a delicious green-tea that is exclusively harvested 3,500ft above sea level of Huangshan Mountain, China with a natural sweet flavor.
If you want to try something new and young, try Youthberry™. It is a refreshing white tea blend with acai fruit, tropical pineapple and mango flavors. ( I think I’ll try this one soon.)
Nino has always enjoyed English Breakfast Black Tea for its full-bodied flavor with rich and malty undertones.
All are available in boxes of 12 in all Starbucks stores nationwide.
