Dining

Weekend Grills at the Bay City Café

As restaurants, cafes, and hotels are slowly coming out of their pandemic imposed slumber, we are all adjusting to the new ways that we dine in or out with friends and family. Feeling our way through what is newly appropriate, Covid-safe, and doesn’t drain our adjusted social batteries has playground feels at recess after lunch. Nino and I felt like big kids for our first night out in more than two years, when we visited Weekend Grills at Bay City Café.

We requested for Oysters Rockefeller more than once.

EASY TO FIND

Bay City Café is found in Citadines Apart ‘ Hotel situated in the heart of Entertainment City. As part of The W Mall, guests who avail of staycations and long term stays in this Manila location are just a stone’s throw from everything that one would need for both work and play.

There is something for everyone who loves the grill. We really enjoyed the pork chops, the steak, and the oysters.

The regular café menu varies from Pinoy comfort food of rice bowls, to pizza, pasta, wraps, and more continental choices for travelers who might come from all parts of the world. Weekend Grills has a completely different approach in providing delicious options of both land and sea fare, for outdoor diners who enjoy excellent grilled food.

OUTDOOR DINING

Dining outdoors truly seems like the safer alternative these days, and Nino and I enjoyed the breeze coupled with a nice glass of chilled wine. The trio who provided live entertainment took requests and had a repertoire that spanned the decades for fun and upbeat music.

Fresh flavors mixed with the smoky grilled meats and fish are a delicious combination. SIMPLE and yummy.

I kept laughing and even joking Nino, that I couldn’t believe we were actually out after dark, on a date, without kids. He shared that he thought we should go out more, and take advantage of restaurants that have outdoor dining when we could.

Dining by the pool with a fresh breeze was comfortable and felt safe. Tables were quite far apart and staff was super attentive to refill our small plates when we would be ready.

UNLIMITED EATS

Weekend Grills is a new concept by Executive Chef Prince Patiño for the Citadines property.

Chef Prince is the Executive Chef of both Bay City Café, and Scott’s BGC which is located in their sister property, Ascott BGC.

Small plates brought to the table are the new way to experience “buffet” style dining. The scallops was prepared with a light and sweet BBQ sauce and lots of roasted garlic.

Taking into consideration guests’ new habits in (literally) dining out, while sourcing sustainable meats and seafood was the inspiration for the grilled menu for these Friday and Saturday night events.

Tasty Flank Steak has always been a favorite with #TeamGellibean

Providing the backdrop and setting the stage complete with live music obviously completes the Weekend Grills experience.

Nino enjoyed the Stuffed Squid, while I favored the Blue Marlin steaks.

Here’s what you can expect when you avail of this new way to enjoy Weekend Grills:

Diver Scallops from Mindanao
Oysters Rockefeller
Blue Marlin
Stuffed Squid
Thai Chicken Skewers
Chimichurri Porkchop
And Garlic Herb Flank Steak

Fresh Oysters straight from Aklan

QUICK AND SATISFYING GET AWAY

Nino and I both enjoyed our date night conversation, and the little surprises we forgot about “dating” along the way. Because we visited Weekend Grills at Bay City Cafe on a Friday evening, we truly enjoyed having something to look forward to that was fun and just for us. Weekend Grills is totally set up for both family outings and couples who want to steal away for some tasty fish, scallops, and Aklan oysters paired with marinated meats that hit the spot .

Walk ins are welcome, but if you would like to reserve your table or seating area near the stage, you can call or text in advance. And, if you would like 20% off the buffet price, be sure to mention that you are one of my readers and followers on social media.

Happy Grilling!
