Every month, I try to visit the dermatologist at least once. If I am super busy, and do not have time for weekly visits, I make sure I visit at least once a month for a routine cleaning and treatment. In this blog post, I will highlight what to expect from a Glycolic Facial and Diamond Peel from Aesthetic Science Clinic.
Since I turned 40 years old, I suddenly became more conscious about the decisions I was making to not only live a healthier life by changing my diet, but also by caring for my skin routinely as well.
#TheStruggleIsReal
One of the treatments that I enjoy regularly from Aesthetic Science Clinic in Alabang is the Glycolic Acid Cleaning with an added Diamond Peel. This non-invasive treatment cleans up the possibility of blemishes, and leaves my skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated.
I have written about the first time I ever experienced a Diamond Peel before, and I felt like the results were amazing.
But to be able to avail of this treatment once a month keeps my skin looking so much more hydrated, exfoliated, and over all, healthier and more supple.
Whenever I start this treatment with Jenny, she always begins with a foaming cleanser to remove any dirt and impurities that might be on the surface of my skin.
After she removes the foaming cleanser, we dive into the exfoliation by way of a Neostrata Glycolic Acid Solution application. The percentage and strength of this solution depends on what Doc Yanee recommends after examining my skin during our consultation.
Jenny uses a little fan to keep the areas where Doc Yanee applies the acid peel cool, and pain free.
After Doc applies the solution, it feels a little itchy with a slight sting, depending on the percentage and strength.
On this particular day, she applied a 35% solution. At 35% I don’t even flinch. In fact, it didn’t even feel like very much.
When the solution has set on the face for a few minutes, Jenny then sponges off the solution and I get to sit under the steamer.
The steamer opens up the pores and gets my skin ready for the next step of this routine cleaning. It’s not too hot and because I’m usually very quick to get cold, I look forward to this part of the facial. (Mabilis ako lamigan.)
With cotton pads on my eyes, and my relaxing music in my earphones, I take the time to enjoy the warm steam which readies my skin for the next part of the treatment.
Once my pores are open, it makes it easier for Jenny to clean up the superficial blemishes, blackheads, and pimples with the vacuum and the extraction tools.
This is usually the time in the facial that is not the favorite of many.
It is also when all the hard work is done. This is also the time that I wish I had one of those close up cameras to see all the good stuff that Jenny pulls out of my pores.
Gross.
I know.
And yes, I am one of the people that likes watching this kind of stuff on YouTube.
Hahahahaha.
Once the skin is clean, devoid of blackheads, clogged pores, and all that other stuff that gives us problems, Jenny brings out a part the facial that I find completely amusing, by way of Star Wars Wand.
Ok. I’m totally joking. It’s not a Star Wars Wand. It’s an electronic frequency laser, that helps sanitize the skin, and prevent infection after all that poking and prodding and cleaning.
When the laser is all put away, it’s time to bring out the Diamond Tipped cleaning tool which not only successfully removes unnecessary layers of dead skin by way of exfoliation, it also vacuums it away from the face without leaving any dirt behind.
Jenny is careful not to come too close to my eyes, but is thorough in making sure that everything has been exfoliated carefully and properly.
As we are nearing the end of my facial, Jenny is now taking the time to make sure there is no risk for any future infection by applying Betmathasone cream on all the red parts of my face that were picked.
And before I stand up from the treatment bed, she also makes sure to apply sunblock before I walk out the door to start my day.
This treatment leaves me feeling clean and fresh. It unclogs all my pores, removes the dirt and dead layers of skin from the surface, and leaves my skin moisturized without feeling oily or heavy. It’s something I look forward to with Doc Yanee, as regular maintenance.
If have been very lazy and harsh in the treatment of my skin, I have notice that I need this treatment twice a month.
But for the most part, I enjoy this thorough cleaning once a month for maintenance.
It takes care of my oily t-zone without drying out the rest of my face, and leaves me feeling more confident in going without make up for a few days afterwards.
