I have been very busy visiting new and fun places to eat with my friend Jane.
I already shared about our visit to Manna Bakery, and about our visit to Coco Nails where I learned about yummy Kashimaki from Pink Wasabi.
During one of our outings with the girls, (actually on the same day when we checked out Manna’s cooking lessons) we were able to swing by Kat’s Cafe here in Las Pinas.

Kat explained to me that she always wanted a fun, quirky, themed room in her home growing up. Once she got her own shop, she decided to decorate and design the bathrooms this way instead.
Kat’s Cafe is super cute. It’s definitely “off the beaten path,” and I’m not so sure I would have been able to find it, if I wasn’t with Jane. It’s smack in the middle of BF Resort Village occupying two separate spaces in a strip mall, because they outgrew their first spot.
We had a little snack on the cupcake side of the shop (but ordered our coffee from the other side) and I noticed that Kat also sells pastas in case you wanted to take a savory merienda instead of sweets. I had the chance to sit with Kat for a bit and learn a little bit about her and her love of baking. I found her to be very soft spoken, sharing her love of baking, and how she went back to school to further her studies knowing fully well that she wanted to open up a little shop where she could express her creativity.

Cupcakes Pictured here are: Red Velvet, Mango Dulce, Blueberry Cheesecake, Oreo Cheesecake, Cookie Dough, and Death by Chocolate
I liked that her cake was dense but not dry. It was also easy to say yes to the kids when they asked for seconds because both the cake and the icing weren’t overly sweet. When I have cupcakes (and even when I make them) there has to be a balance…if the cake is sweet, then the icing should not be overly sweet, and vice versa.

Even the salt and pepper shakers have so much character! I love it! Kat shared that she picked these cuties up at Rustan’s. (Psst. Secret: I collect Salt and Pepper Shakers.)
Cupcakes cost P65, but if you buy a half dozen they are P60/each. For just a little extra you can choose to order your cupcake without icing and decorate it yourself. (P100) Cupcakes come to the table with a choice of three different icings and a variety of toppings placed in plate that resembles a painter’s palette…perfect for decorating and again expressing Kat’s creative side. Kat explained the different kinds of icing to choose from (chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and cream cheese) and even gave a quick lesson on how to decorate with the different tips and sprinkles.

I love this plate! How cute is it that it looks like a painter’s palette? Even the dessert spoon and forks are accented with little glass candy!
Kat and her hubby Joseph are hands on with the business, and it’s obvious that they love what they do. With Joseph taking charge and personally preparing our coffees the way a barista does for someone very special, and Kat demonstrating and teaching the girls how to decorate their cupcakes for their activity, it’s clear that their attention to detail is in every aspect of the shop
If you would like to visit Kat’s Cafe, place an order for pick up, or simply stop by for merienda, check out her Facebook page for more information on how to get there.
